In the blink of an eye, those who hailed Jesus as Messiah turned on him and cried out “crucify him!”
He wasn’t doing what they expected. He didn’t gather an army to overthrow the Romans.
The Son of God did not meet their expectations.
And what about now? We hail him as Messiah, yet do not follow him. We crown him as King, yet do not subject ourselves to his will. In our prayers, we give him specific instructions regarding what WE expect from him.
In the blink of an eye, we betray him, we deny him, we waste the life that he has given us in abundance.
Have mercy on us, Lord and forgive us.
“Therefore, kind Jesus, since I cannot pay thee,
I do adore thee, and will ever pray thee,
think on thy pity and thy love unswerving,
not my deserving.”

Also, in the blink of an eye, God can bless you and turn your life around. I have had this happen twice in my life. One day I am sad, lonely and hopeless; then God sends someone into my life that truly changes everything. As my body ages, I am trying to be more sustaining and praying for guidance in this endeavor. I do not know whether to grit my teeth and fight, or be calm, relax, and go with the flow. Please pray for me that I receive guidance on what to do and that I be open to God’s prompting. Thank you in advance.
